LBaP! v2.1 (Kirby's Dream Land Update)
Just a minor update here to improve the Project Setting Examples Project available with the full version.
The Project Setting Examples Project is designed to give you an informative and detailed deconstruction of the platformer physics settings by comparing how minor and major changes affect player character behavior.
Where appropriate, I also decided to include some extra flourishs by attaching scripts to various platformer states depending on what physics profile has been selected. These include things like a slide in Mega Man 3 or the 'P-speed' animation state in Super Mario Bros 3. My hope is that providing all these detailed examples will help you better understand what is possible using the [Attach Script to Platformer Event Callback] event and the various ways of utiilizing it.
For now, I've added a new physics profile inspired by the classic Game Boy game from 1992 :

Kirby's Dream Land (1992) Approximation
This includes an approximation of the flight and float mechanic famous in the Kirby series, as well as a recreation of the "trip and stumble" Kirby does when falling from a great enough height.
I've been enjoying figuring out what platformer physics profiles from famous games might be implemented in GB Studio 4.2 strictly using the core GB Studio events (and without any need for plugins). So I'll be looking into adding more of these physics profiles in the future.
Other Fixes and Changes:
- Added the option to download the LBaP! v4.2.1a Platformer Setting Examples Project.zip directly from the itch page (full version only)
- Added the option to download the LBaP! game ROM and Platformer Setting Examples ROM directly from the itch page (free downloads)
- Restructured the course directory so you only need to unzip the initial download of the free or full version of the course and not additional project folders (to avoid the issue of nothing showing up in GB Studio if users attempt to open the project files while still zipped).
- Extended ladder collision up one tile higher in Platformer Setting Examples Project to ensure the player character can tranasition from the top of ladders to platforms properly.
Thanks for the positive response regarding the new update. Be sure to spread the word to anyone looking to make the most of GB Studio's new platformer engine.
Happy coding!
