Feed IT Souls: Dual
Feed IT Souls: DUAL (Alpha Build)
Feed IT Souls: Dual is a fighting game for the Game Boy Color, designed for two players sharing one console.
Typically, I wouldn't release a game in an alpha state like this. However, since designing a fighting game must be approached holistically, I am looking for feedback on the various systems as I develop and expand on them further.
So with all that said, have a fool around with the current iteration and let me know your thoughts - for better or worse!
FIGHT SCENE OVERVIEW

HOW TO PLAY

I challenged myself to create a multiplayer fighting game that could be played using only one console. For this reason, FITS Dual has a very minimal approach to its player input design, using only two buttons per player.

PRESENT & FUTURE PLANS
Considering this games self-imposed limitation of only providing two buttons per player, the fighting system will always be a minimal one. All the same, I am interested in exploring how this fighting system can be pushed towards greater complexity while still maintaining simplistic controls. It's likely I will be adding to the possible moves over time therefore.
When I have some more time, I will release a devlog sharing how the character stats work. Because it's taken a lot of work to get all the systems in place before I got to really test how fast/slow everything should be, the current character stat values will be far from final. For now, you can check out the the character statistics menu option in-game (which hints at what each character's strengths and weaknesses are).
Currently Available Features:
- 2 Player Battle

- A Character Statistics View Screen
Planned Features:
- Opponent AI
- Arcade Mode (Single Player)
- Special Attacks Unique to each Character (Blocking an attack will power up a special meter during a fight)

Tight controls and pleasing visuals. You could've saved more time by working on two champions/fighters only, and then added the rest one by one.
That was a suggestion. I'm in the process of making a fighting game myself, and I found that by focusing my energy on two fighters, I could allocate more time to the controls and interaction.
not to be annoying, but is there a reason why it’s “dual” and not “duel”?
Neat idea, wasn’t sure how a 2-player 1-console fighting game would work, but it works surprisingly well!
Cheers. It's a play on the word 'Duel'. Dual because there is only 2 buttons used per player.
We are really tempted to write a review already, but we decided to keep waiting a bit, so your game is even better :)
Cool, I'm not sure when I'll get back to this but I'd be interested in any feedback from any one, any time. It'll be useful to get more feedback - good or bad - while I think about what directions I can explore with this idea in future. Feel free to share your thoughts privately via discord with me if you wish.
If you are not sure about the direction yet, we perhaps cover it in the news-corner for now then. Will think about if feedback is necessary.
This game is unbelievable! Very impressive how you designed the moveset with only 2 buttons, it’s quite intuitive. This would be so fun to play 2P!
Phenomenal game for what you've done so far. The fighting mechanic is very promising, but it's overshadowed by the amazing title screen, effects, story line, jokes, and the THE BEST sprite animation I have seen on a GBC game!
That looks pretty! Looking forward how this is going to develop!
Absolute stunning!!! Cant wait for the full thing!!!!
This is amazing, even the game manual design is on point
damn this is crazzzzy! I also love your UI and everything just 10/10
This is crazy that it can run on gbc, looks great animations are brilliant
