Super Dassalo Land v1.1 Update


Super Dassalo Land version 1.1 is available to download now!

After a week of further testing and the help of players reporting bugs post release, I have worked on squashing bugs and polishing up some design elements in Super Dassalo Land to make sure the game is cleaned up as much as possible. For the details, read the full changelog below.

You can expect me to produce a short series of dev logs covering a kind of 'making of SDL' in the future. Some of you have thrown some interesting questions at me and others are eager to learn how aspects of Super Dassalo Land were coded/produced. So I will look into carving out some time to share what I think may be an interesting read for fans of the game and users of GB Studio.

Tommy, myself and the team want to thank you for such a warm reception over the past week. Since SDL's release, it's been wonderful hearing about how much people have enjoyed it. And thank you so much for the generous donations! All donations will be going to Tommy to help pay for the development costs of SDL.

Super Dassalo Land v1.1 Changelog:

BUG FIXES

  • Controls are now re-enabled if player reaches Kewpie but did not collect the item in all levels
  • HUD score tile now doesn't tileswap with the wrong tile in 1-3 causing a graphical glitch when ground pounding the Garlic Boy enemy
  • Corrected the accuracy tracking code in 3-3
  • Fixed bug where enemy projectile collision wasn't registering until after the player got knocked back by an enemy in 3-3 and 3-BOSS
  • Corrected "Thanks for Playing!" grammar error at the end of the credits.

CHANGES

  • Reduced the wait between the score bonus increments from 3 frames to 1 frame to help speed up the wait in the level clear results screen.
  • Added a small platform at the end of 1-2 to make it easier to back track and collect the Sauce if you didn't get it before reaching Kewpie
  • Added and edited some platforms in 1-3 to relieve wall jumping difficulty if using touch controls slightly.
  • Polished some background GFX in Ramen Springs stages
  • Jiko and Tommy dialogue during the final boss fight is now skipped if the player is replaying the boss fight post game.
  • Level Intro Scenes for 3-3 and 3-BOSS now have a new minor-key variant music track by Sloopygoop.
  • +1 HP to Dollarmite enemies to increase score points attained from hitting them, making it slightly easier to get a higher score/S Rank in 3-3.
  • Final Boss Pre Phase 2 Cutscene now has a new Kewpie theme variant music track by Sloopygoop
