Tommy Dassalo is busily preparing for the cultural event of the millennium: the taping of his stand-up comedy special ‘SCAM ARTIST’. All of a sudden, Jiko, an evil phantom, appears and traps him inside the pages of his notebook!

Now it’s up to Tommy and his crusty little yappy dog Kewpie to travel across three worlds, piecing together his stand-up material and using his microphone whip, ground pound and wall jump to defeat Jiko’s minions and save comedy!

PLEASE NOTE: Super Dassalo Land features crude humour and may not be suitable for kids.

- Play in browser on your phone using touch controls, on your computer with a keyboard, or download a ROM and use your favourite emulation software or hardware of your choice.

- Three visually rich and distinct worlds based around Tommy’s stand-up routines and featuring a huge variety of enemies, from bad-boy garlic bulbs to sentient pokies machines.

- Hidden collectibles in every level for those seeking an extra challenge.

- Go for the S Rank in every level by getting the highest score you can. Compete against your friends by sharing your final score, level ranks, and total time using a handy 'Final Totals' screen on social media!

- An auto-save feature (works in the browser version, too!)

- Original Soundtrack by Sloopy Goop!

thank you!

i beat it :D

this looks and is quite frankly amazing, the sprite art looks like it belong son the gba and the music doesn't make me want to rip my ears apart, :)

i found another bug in 1-1 where... you must download the video in the link to see the video because i do not know how to put it directly. it might work on other levels. link: super dassalo land 1.1 all bugs i found by catel albastru developer (itch.io) and download video 2024-10-15 12-50-17

A BUG IN SUPER DASSALO LAND

so it ground pounded in a ledge and without input i could go up really high, it does not work with every platform but it works with a few platforms. it did not stop if it touched a ledge instead i gone up even faster. it can not move left or right, once it touches a ceiling it stops

it ground pounded in dassalo land 1.1 level 1-3 and this is what happened (from bottom to top):

Hi! We played your game on stream and really enjoyed it!

Who is behind this ?!

An entire fleet of creatives ?!!

What a massive coordination of effort!

⚠️❌🛑⛔☢️🛃🛂🆗🆕🆒

game changer.

that character with the glasses reminds me so much of a cartoon character, but It’s sitting right on the edge of where my mind’s eye can see it…. and of course Wario also, yes, but it’s someone else… or maybe i’m combining multiple characters into one who doesn’t exist?

Because he’s like 30% Penfold, 20% The Tetris Plus “FEN-TESTIC” guy, 40% Wario, and 10%…I don’t know, Simon from the Chipmunks?

Is anyone even going to know who any of these references are?!

...Professor Balthazar? That one old balkan cartoon???

Maybe Fred Clever of Clever & Smart. A spanish comic, well known in europe...

made little video on dassalo land

The work touches my heart. I got a copy of the rom, thank you very much for your generous kindness

amazing game man n.n i absolutely adore it n.n i wish i could do some of the mechanics on this game

Oh by the way, on that same stage i did a dash jump to the wall on the left and for some reason he did a moon jump going out of the screen and started to fall down reeeeaaaaly slowly

Really cool game :D

great stuff

Great presentation, but gameplay seems a bit simple.

It is absolutely precious but I got a bug at the beggining of the game that, for some reason, presses every movement at the same time which causes the character to go BRRRR and makes it kinda unplayable. Then a weird white screen.

Other than that, it is BEAUTIFUL-

Hey there, I'd recommend downloading the Game Boy ROM and playing with an emulato such as BGB or Sameboy

seems so cute

superb little platformer, really cool game

Totally love the artstyle vibe! It reminds of Corocoro comics artstyle! <3

A very enjoyable game, sometimes you just need some humour and nice graphics without worrying about hard platforming, continues, lives and finding hidden stuff.

A nice platforming with a nice and generous topping of adventure, loved the game ideal for a short and relaxing gaming session, with the add up of getting the "S" ranking if you are up for some challenge.

If reading "a lot" is not for you just turn off the cutscenes from the options menu. However I encourage you to take your time and enjoy the game fully as it was intended to be played, also the cutscenes are quite a pixel art beauty to watch, the humour may or may not be your cup of tea but I insist that you should play it with the cutscenes.

Really nice game, It's literally a GBC game 😱

(+1)(-4)

It took WAY too long to get to actual gameplay. And then when the level started, the dog talked forever too, still not giving the player control. Sakurai made a good video on this about how you should get the player playing as soon as possible.

(+5)(-1)

This is why I created the option to turn off all cutscenes when you start a new game. That options also skips all the dialogue in the levels so player can get straight into it. Also, I didn't put any dialogue in at the start of the first level (the tutorial scene) to mitigate this.

So yes, I agree with you and would normally truncate story cutscenes to get the player playing asap as I have done in my other platformers. But when it's a game about a Comedian that ties in with his stand up special, its going to end up with more written jokes sprinkled throughout the game than normal.

Tommy edited and tightened up a whole bunch of the script towards the end of development to reduce the time spent reading words instead of playing the game, but the cutscenes and dialogue are also very important to the overall experience since its a game about a Comedian.

I was also interested to know which version of gb studio you used

I had started it in 3.0 as that was out when we started the project. We migrated it to 3.2 to get some more features (like simultaneous timer scripts for example.)

I would have been keen to migrate to GBS 4 when that came out but we were so far into the project that the amount of work to successfully migrate it and complete the game before deadline was just too risky.

very well made, congrats!

The touchscreen support is very nice, I wist the controls were a little higher on the screen though. It's kinda uncomfortable to holt the phone at the very bottom.

nice unique idea. I notice you cant die in game ?

Such an amazing game! What an achievement :)

I got all S and 150500 :D I was playing it on my GBC and then switched over to my Anbernic 35XX because the screen is nicer!

(-5)

lets be honest, why should you even play on a game boy color cosole emulator if you have a pc with keyboard, its cheaper than buying both

Nostalgia, you don't get it? ;)

(-1)

this text is so hard to read im at the beginning of the game and already gave up trying to read the story lmao

wait, are you playing on original gbc hardware ?

No

Really nice! I like the gameplay mechanics, simple yet practical

Gooood moooooooorning video games!

This game is really good overall rating 89/100

almost got everything

Wow! I remember getting the same results except for 2-2 (which confused me and I gave up on) & 3-3 I got an A without a star and for 3-2 I got an S rank with a star! Unfortunately, I forgot the scores and to take a screenshot so uh yeah...

(1 edit)

Nevermind! Here are my results (pressing the right arrow key shows you the requirements to get S rank for all stages in case you don't know.)

Good job!
